چکیده

Large fluctuations of conductivity with time are observed in a low-mobility twodimensional electron system in silicon at low electron densities ns and temperatures. A dramatic increase of the noise power (∝ 1/fα) as ns is reduced below a certain density ng, and a sharp jump of α at ns ≈ ng, are attributed to the freezing of the electron glass at ns = ng. The data strongly suggest that glassy dynamics persists in the metallic phase.

Metal-insulator transition and glassy behavior in two-dimensional electron systems

Studies of low-frequency resistance noise demonstrate that glassy freezing occurs in a two-dimensional electron system in silicon in the vicinity of the metal-insulator transition (MIT). The width of the metallic glass phase, which separates the 2D metal and the (glassy) insulator, depends strongly on disorder, becoming extremely small in high-mobility (low-disorder) samples. The glass transiti...

A NEW GENERATION OF OXYNITRIDE GLASSES CONTAINING FLUORINE

Oxynitride glasses are found as grain boundary phases in silicon nitride ceramics. They are effectively alumino-silicate glasses in which nitrogen substitutes for oxygen in the glass network, and this causes increases in glass transition and softening temperatures, viscosities (by two to three orders of magnitude), elastic moduli and microhardness. Calcium silicate-based glasses containing fluo...

شبیه سازی ذوب سیستمهای دو بعدی

The study of a two-dimensional (2-D) system started nearly half a century ago when Peierls and Landau showed the lack of long range translational order in a two-dimensional solid. In 1968, Mermin proved that despite the absence of long range translational order. Two-dimensional solids can still exhibit a different kind of long range bond orientation. During the last decade, fascinating theori...

Calculation of Quasi-one-dimensional Interacting Electron Gas Using the Hartree-Fock Method

In this paper, the Hartree-Fock method has been formulated to investigate some of the ground state properties of quasi-one-dimensional interacting electron gas in the presence of the magnetic field. The bare coulomb interaction between electrons has been assumed. For this system, we have also computed some of its thermodynamic and magnetic properties such as the energy, pressure, incompressibil...

Universal behavior of the resistance noise across the metal-insulator transition in silicon inversion layers.

Studies of low-frequency resistance noise show that the glassy freezing of the two-dimensional (2D) electron system in the vicinity of the metal-insulator transition occurs in all Si inversion layers. The size of the metallic glass phase, which separates the 2D metal and the (glassy) insulator, depends strongly on disorder, becoming extremely small in high-mobility samples. The behavior of the ...
